Bottle of Moxie

The Man who is the

Bottle of Moxie
MOXIE

By Allison M. Bigelow

"To be great is to be misunderstood." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

While greatness is nearly impossible to define, the presence of greatness is equally as impossible to overlook, as its golden memories and sweet, pleasant aftertaste are unforgettable.

Peter Ryan Sheedy is a man of intellectual fortitude and philosophical sagacity. His name is synonymous with the uncommon characteristic of "having a lot of Moxie," (as in spirit of courage). Moxie, the first carbonated beverage bottled and sold in America, is a pop-culturized version of ambrosial delight. Yet, they are one in the same.

Sheedy's is a prominent physique whose specter and trademark red sweater covering his soft, fleshy, round, yet pleasantly plump body will continue to peruse the hallways of dear, old Kingswood long after his physical presence departs us. Moxie comes in a smooth, similarly round yet simulaneously large two liter bottle; its poignant yet refreshing aftertaste makes a lasting impact on one's cerebral capacity, actions, and reactions long after one's original exposure, as does Sheedy.

Sheedy is a pure form directly derived from divinity, a kind, compassionate and caring soul. He volunteers at the hospital, watches and protects his adopted Russian step-brother Sammy, and shares his mastery of the English language with the common man by serving on the Literary Magazine staff. He is open and loving; Moxie spreads the love once it is opened. It is a sweet elixer, the least adultered form of the nectar of the gods. Both quench thirst, be it for a distinguished mentor or fulfilling refreshment, with a satisfying twist. They are immaculate in their virgin forms, supreme in their creation, conception, and concoction.

Sheedy is refined, in a somewhat classical sense, with an appreciation of good literature, excellent poetry, breathtaking art, and fine cuisine. Moxie is an esthetic beverage. It is invigorating, rejuvinating, and intoxicating refreshment, like Sheedy. When in the presence of either, it is impossible to remain calm. Perhaps due to its sugar content, Moxie is this cross-country harrier's pre-race beverage of choice. Likewise, Sheedy is one of my favorite things to chase, and I have spent many hours in hot pursuit of that distinctive frame. Both are exciting, always appropriate, and add intoxicating energy to stimulate any situation.

In conclusion, both are acquired tastes. One must be developed and sufficiently evolved to fully enjoy their mastery and beauty. In order to revel in their consummate magnificence, we must realize that their relationship transcends mere unity or brotherhood; Peter Sheedy's life is a bottle of Moxie. Peter Sheedy is a bottle of Moxie.

Editor's note:
-Sheedy has almost completely mastered the English language, scoring 780 on the Verbal section of the SAT's.
-Sheedy now also shares his love with sister Nina Sophia.
