Peter wrote the following letter to the club when a mysterious friend of ours (Kara Ross) propositioned him for a picture.

Dear flock,
The sort of brevity that is necessitated by the habit of writing on the backs of pictures being in the first part almost, but not completely, absolutely contrary to my nature, and, in the second part, most thoroughly unsuitable for the like expression, I have chosen, as is so often the case, to pursue quite a different mode in conveying to the lot of you, and you know who you are, my sincere gratitude for a season's devoted idolization. The formation of a Peter Sheedy Fan Club, league, union, or what have you, was, of course, completely unavoidable. Nonetheless, I appreciate that it could be the PSFC, and not some weak band of moderate imitators, for no other group of individuals could have been, I am sure, quite so true to my unique blend of absurdity and principle. For this I thank you.

It is true though that June approaches fast, and, even as I write, our time together is drawing to a close. Lest the misery and triumphs of our past fade into the depths occupied by forgotten causes, lest the PSFC join the ranks of the Wobblies, the American Communist Party, the Weathermen, and the New Kids on the Block, let you, even as my physical presence departs you, bear the PSFC standard proudly, and pass it dutifully to worthy newcomers.   Rely not on the day to day presence of greatness, but rather let that selfsame spirit of the sort that wantonly molests gelatin snacks in public live in you, and by so doing charge and expand the bounds of the PSFC.   As Clara Sparks, a radical feminist from San Fransico, once said, "the most radical idea in America is a long memory." Adapt that. Remember always.   In so doing may new realities unfold to you, like those in which Marx and Christ are reconcilable.

Whenever two or more of you gather together in my name, then there will be more than one person standing around looking silly and making others think strange things, perception altering things, and that ain´t bad.

Being mugged in my sleep, Peter's senior portrait
